U.A.W. Rant!

Hey U.A.W., less pay is better than no pay. Make yourself more competitive!

Just ask a Realtor. My Dad told me when getting into the real estate brokerage business that have of something is better than a whole lot of nothing. He was referring to cooperating with other agents and splitting fees.

In a tough market, I am responsible to re-engineer my business, I expect the same from you and the mananagement of the auto industry.

Sorry for the rant!

Alabama Home Sales Stats from ACRE

Median Sales Price is up 4.85% from a year ago.

Average Selling Price is up 3.34% from a year ago.

That's right I said UP! The rest of the world is listening to the news and Alabama is improving in asset value. Is this happening in all neighborhoods in Alabama? Probably not, but the statewide assessment is a good test for the health of the market. Especially with other nearby markets suffering so much.

The only down trend I see is a reduction in total homes sold. That number has declined 27.7%.

Did you say everything seems crazy?

In a seemingly tough market like those of current, it is challenging to best understand your real estate positions (equity or leasehold). The news tells stories of good, bad, and ugly. What are you to believe except that everything is going haywire?

I believe that it is times like these, when businesses are molded into excellence. As a broker, it seems like I have to work twice as hard for each transaction compared to months and years ago. That's okay, I'm willing to do that. As a business person, whether you own property or use property, I encourage you to do the same. This market has plenty of gems for us to learn and carry us to success now and greater success in more bullish markets.

What have I learned so far?
  • importance of follow up
  • to implement organized prospecting
  • over communication to clients is good
  • to be frugal in non-essential personal and business spending
  • value of existing and past clients
Those are a few among many things I have learned so far. While I don't wish a tough market on anyone, heck it's surly easier to prosper in a good market; I do believe that we have one of the greatest opportunities ahead of us to learn and mature within our professions.

What should you do? Stop worrying! Turn off the television put down the newspaper. You can't change any of it. However, what you can change improve is yourself. Has your business changed? Adapt.

What else can you do? Take time -- you have a little extra these days don't you -- to survey your skills. What are your strengths? How about your weaknesses? Who are your best/worst customers and vendors?

What can I do for you? I can be your partner in a time that we need to dig deep. As a business person, real estate can be one of the greatest assets of your company. Whether you own or lease property, your facilities are important critical. If you are growing, shrinking, or re-positioning your company, I am here to walk along side you and learn about your strengths, weaknesses, obstacles, and threats. That way, I can help you make the best decision possible regarding your business.
